In 1915 a thousand women, determined to stop the First World War, met in The Hague for an international peace conference -the birth of WILPF. Australian women peace groups affiliated with the international body and travelled to the second women’s peace conference in 1919 which gave us our name today. For the past 100 years, in Australia and around the world, WILPF has been committed to working towards peace, justice, and disarmament.
In 2015, WILPF members in Australia travelled to The Hague for the international centenary conference and held a centenary conference in Canberra to celebrate our history and look to our future here in Australia.
