Australian Peacewomen making a difference - Nora Amath, Queensland
Thursday 10 March, 6.00pm AEST (Brisbane time)
The webinar featured Queensland Peacewoman Nora Amath, a high profile Muslim woman who advocates for human rights for refugees and asylum seekers in Australia's off-shore detention centres and the rights of cultural minorities, and in an interfaith leader, interviewed by Clarissa Rios (UN Women Global Champion for Women Economic Empowerment).
Our aim - to inspire all who attend to make a difference in their own communities!
WILPF gratefully acknowledges the funding for our webinar from the Queensland Government's Queensland Women's Week program.
WILPF AUSTRALIA RESEARCH WEBINAR: INTERNATIONAL LAW
In December 2015, WILPF Australia conducted our very first webinar, on the intersection between International Human Rights Law (IHRL), International Humanitarian Law (IHL) and Complimentarity: A Feminist Approach.
The webinar presented the work of WILPF Australia Intern Jane Bowness (University of Queensland). This was followed by WILPF Australia President Barbara O'Dwyer, commentary from key researchers and practitioners in the field, and a Q&A session.
The webinar was a great success with more than 50 eager participants from around the world, and wonderful feedback was received afterwards. For the replay, click here.
